This service allows brands or individuals to talk with me and pick my brain on all Cosmetic and Personal Care topics whether that be something very specific like the use of a certain ingredient or it could be more broad in nature such as wanting guidance on how to mix and manufacture products at scale for themselves.

Product Formulation
Written Formula with Reference Sample

An in depth service that involves researching, testing, formulating and refining a unique personal care product for your brand based on as much or as little input as you want to provide. This service involves the creation of a physical sample. You own the IP to the formula at the end of this process. For brands looking to make a real impact in the cosmetic and skincare space, IP ownership is absolutely vital to your brand security and value.

R&D Form
My clients fill out a carefully crafted form that helps inform the development path of the product. This form encourages you to list Hero Ingredients, Inspiration Products, ‘No No’ Ingredients and other information that helps form a development scaffold.
Research and Feasibility
I lock myself in the lab, read your R&D Form submission carefully and devise a formula that is both stable and feasible based on the information provided. It may not be possible to include all Hero Ingredients or certain suggested ingredients may clash with the overall goal of the project i.e. asking for beeswax to be included in a vegan product. It is at this stage that these sort of issues will be flagged and alternatives suggested in a written formula.
Formula & Sample Creation
Based on your R&D Form as well as my own research, a written formula will be created alongside a physical sample for you to assess.
Refinement - £95/hr
This stage involves you offering concise and clear feedback to help guide the formula through refinement into the product that you want. In most cases, my clients are happy with the first sample generated but this Refinement service allows you to purchase additional lab time to have changes made. Changes would include things like:
‘Can we increase the thickness of the serum’
‘ Can we reduce the red tint of this hair oil’.
’Let’s try this formula but with a strawberry scent’
Most changes can be made within a 1 hour time slot.
Not all changes are possible and this will be communicated clearly at this stage.
Technical Paper Work
After the formula itself is finalised, technical paperwork is generated. Paperwork includes 1) A condensed PIF file containing the exact formula and other observations 2) a Method of Manufacture and 3) A Product Specification Sheet. I will also compile a full collection of Safety Data Sheets related to each ingredient in the formula.
Introduction to Responsible Person (RP)
A Responsible Person is a legal requirement for cosmetic sales in most geographical areas including the EU and UK. An RP is a skilled and highly organised individual who acts as you/your brands information, regulation and compliance source. They will hold and and have access to all technical documentation related to the products you wish to sell and will typically inform you of any upcoming legislation changes that may effect the compliance of your products. They can perform a range of services including checking your formulas for compliance in different regions, organising PET and Stability Testing, vetting new or existing suppliers and much more. Do not underestimate the importance of a competent RP in your cosmetic brand journey. I can make relevant, non-obligation introductions to RPs I personally work with on request.

‘Micro’ Batch Manufacturing

This is a new service which is ideal for start-ups or existing brands trialing a new product. Our ‘Micro’ Batch Manufacturing service is ideal for brands looking for between 10 and 100 units of a product (Unit Volume Depending). Ideal for user testing feedback, other testing needs and PR/retail sample kits. We only manufacture products designed and formulated by Tyr Formulations and ask that our clients free issue packaging, bottles and/or labels directly to us. This is a quick turn around service with current lead times less than 4 weeks providing packaging, bottles and labels are received in a timely manner.
